This free training is brought to you by the Colorado School Safety Resource Center, Colorado Department of Human Services and Colorado Department of Education. The sessions will cover substance abuse and psychiatric disorders, mental health issues and trauma, school-based prevention and intervention, community-based prevention and parent engagement, effective treatment and recovery support and Drugs Your Kids Know About in the Community.
Dr. Lauren Rauscher of Cal State Long Beach presents on best practices in positive youth Development to support girls in staying in school. Part of the Women’s Foundation of Colorado’s Girls’ Dropout Prevention Initiative, this event is free and open to the public.

This year’s “Pathways to Success” Gala, sponsored by the Aurora Public Schools Education Foundation, will benefit Aurora students and the teachers who help them excel. The gala will include a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, musical performances by APS students and remarks from community leaders. The event will also feature a presentation of the Outstanding Alumnus Award, with brief remarks by award winner Bill Ritter, former governor of Colorado.
The 6th Annual Back to School Night Comedy Benefit, held at Comedy Works South, will raise money and awareness for Colorado Youth for a Change, a nonprofit that strives to solve Colorado’s dropout crisis through thoughtful partnerships and innovative programs.

Thanks to the generous support of the Daniels Fund, you are invited to attend a free screening of the new education movie Won’t Back Down on Thursday, September 27, at 7 PM. The feature-length film starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis and Holly Hunter is a story about parents who take charge of transforming their children’s failing inner-city school.
