Yes… Let us return to the archaic ways of handling things through non education paths. Instead spread fear mongering stories about the how society is being turned upside down by “The Marijuana.” The most heinous drug that has ever existed. Where are you Harry J. Anslinger? Where are you oh lord of lies?

In all seriousness, if cannabis were legalized and regulated like alcohol, maybe there could be better and serious discussions had about cannabis. Info classes for school age kids on why cannabis is not for children. Just because you talk to someone about it does not mean you condone its use. We would not want to be pragmatic, oh no… It is a fact that smoking cigarettes has declined for so many years now. So why has it declined? Because people were thrown in jail for smoking cigarettes? Doors being broken down, outrageous laws ruining people’s lives. No. It is because of educational campaigns informing people of the dangers of smoking. That’s it. Not this finger pointing at problems that could so easily be solved.

  2. KARA ENGLE says:

Children and youth do receive a mixed message about marijuana (Cannabis.)

I do not think marijuana (Cannabis) should be grown in any household where children 0-18 years old live.
Why do children have to be forced to have drugs growing in their home. The innocent have no voice in this matter. Studies are now showing a rising drug use of marijuana (Cannabis) by children.

Cannabis/marijuana does affect how people perceive reality, it affects a person’s judgement, their driving abilities, and their physical, emotional and mental outlook on life. (There are articles that back up these facts).

When a child see’s their parent smoking “pot” they naturally assume that marijuana is good for you, because their parent is a role model for them and that parent is smoking marijuana.

The reality is that marijuana (Cannabis) is dangerous to all children and youth.

When children pass by Grow stores that advertise cannabis as healthy and good for you, they naturally believe this advertising, never wondering if they should question it.

I think all Grow Stores should have to clearly state on their doors that “MEDICAL MARIJUANA (CANNABIS) SMOKING OR CONSUMPTION IS DANGEROUS FOR ALL CHILDREN, IT IS ILLEGAL FOR ANY CHILD TO SMOKE OR HAVE MARIJUANA (CANNABIS) IN THEIR POSSESSION ( AGES 0-18 YEARS OLD)”

This warning sign should be displayed in HUGE LARGE LETTERS on each and every grow store in the United States. Then children and teenagers may begin to understand that smoking, or having marijuana (Cannabis) is very dangerous to their physical, emotional and mental health and that any involvement with marijuana is both dangerous and illegal.

I am so grateful that John Walsh is enforcing that no Medical Marijuana store can be within 1,000 ft or any school, here in Colorado.

Let us protect our children’s right to have a clear mind, that is unclouded with any type of substance!

To Cris: Cigarette smoking NEVER declined from education campaigns. It declined when it became more inconvenient because laws were passed prohibiting smoking indoors in public places, and prices were increased. And by your comparing smoking cigarettes to marijuana, you show that you recognize it is harmful. Marijuana is harmful, and addictive, and like Denver Dad’s son, can ruin lives of young people. Educating kids about marijuana will not prevent them from using it, selling it, and getting into deep, lasting trouble from it. No research has proven that marijuana is good for you. It is helpful to some people with serious pain and illness, because of its pain relief and appetite stimulant. But it is a depressant, and works to increase depression in those who use it regularly. Its increased availability to the public is not a good solution for anyone.
