    I am in favor of Mike Merrifield’s proposed visual arts and performing arts standards. As an art educator Daniel Pink’s book speaks to the global economy and states that we need creative problem solvers for the future. These skills are gained through the visual and performing arts. We need our arts as a culture.

  3. I am a music teacher in elementary school. I feel the arts are extremely important to a student’s education. There are some students who do not have a positive experience in the regular classroom but when they come to music, they “shine”. I feel I can give them a “bright spot” in their day.
