1 Response for “DPS board split again on charter location”

  1. Ed Augden says:

The vote by the board of education to locate yet another charter school in Northwest Denver is just another exercise in brutal political power that further diminishes quality education for poor and Latino students, not only in Northwest Denver but in Southwest as well. The district is using charter schools to divide the community. Fellow board members routinely ignore the requests of the two Latino board members, Arturo Jiminez and Andrea Merida. And, this newsletter is primarily a mouthpiece for the corporate interests seeking to privatize public education and create quality education for the privileged and the lucky and training for the masses needed to flip burgers, change bedpans, etc. Are those who oppose IB World exclusively at Lake fearful that the program might actually succeed adding to the growing perception that Tom Boasberg is inadequate to lead this district?
