I am truly humbled today upon receiving this news.
    Hell has frozen over!
May the children of Colorado finally receive the attention and funding they have always deserved. The state’s inclination to educate its own children poorly and expect better-schooled workers to come into the state later to fill the gaps, has long been a sorrow in my heart.
Not just as a mother, but — as a human.
Thank you, Supreme Court, for telling us that you do see our kids and understand that they both need, and deserve, that one thing that nobody can ever take from them: an education.

I would certainly agree after reading it, that it’s a very odd decision. :-)
    Weird, even.

  4. Julie Delegal says:

We are watching Colorado from here in Florida. Our constitution says the state has a “paramount duty” to provide “adequate funding” for a “high quality” education.

To answer Ed, above, when the laws appear to butt up against the constitution, i.e., there is a conflict of laws, then the courts decide which law wins out. The right to be heard in court is equal to the right to elect representatives who enact laws through a political process. The people reserve the right to say “out of bounds” when the politicians go out of bounds.

Money does not make for a higher education. Caring teachers do. Teachers without political views that they pass on to their students. It is supposed to be about reading, writing (?) and arithmetic. Presently, money or no money, our young children and grandchildren are being “dumbed down” and it has been going on for some time. Our future is in jeopardy if these young ones will be the ones to run our country some day. Does our govt want them that way so they will end up totally dependent?
